We developed a new asset management system for comic images, allowing for advanced search and sorting across multiple dimensions, such as cartoon style, artist, and publication status.
A key feature is a multi-level tagging system, enabling detailed annotation across five (!) layers.
Through live synchronization, we migrated tens of thousands of assets and hundreds of thousands of annotations from the legacy system while ensuring seamless updates.
The system is multiplayer-ready: multiple artists and annotation experts can work on the same image simultaneously without conflicts, powered by WebSockets.
We also implemented a high-load API integration for direct connection to a video production system.
For storage and search, we chose MongoDB as the database and integrated OpenSearch, complemented by a custom-built query builder in the backend.
In a second phase, we extended asset management to include animations and audio. The system now also supports the creation of new comics.
